Stream Movies and TV on American Airlines Flights

American Airlines is expanding in-flight entertainment by adding streaming video to more than 200 additional aircraft in its domestic mainline fleet.

The airline has already equipped over 500 planes with seat-back screens and streaming through its American Spotlight entertainment platform. Beginning this May, Airbus A319, A320 and A321 aircraft will receive the streaming service, and there are plans to introduce it on select international wide-body aircraft as well.

“With the expansion of our digital entertainment, customers traveling on the majority of our mainline aircraft will know they have inflight entertainment available through their personal device or on the seatback in front of them,” said Fernand Fernandez, vice president – global marketing, American Airlines. “Our customers have asked for entertainment no matter which cabin they prefer to fly, and we’re delivering.”

To celebrate the rollout, American Airlines is offering a selection of movies free via the streaming service through June 30. The featured titles include Big Hero 6, Captain America, Frozen, Guardians of the Galaxy, Into the Woods and Maleficent.

Passengers can stream by opening a browser on their device, selecting the airline’s entertainment portal, and following the prompt to install the Gogo Video Player plug-in. The plug-in can be downloaded even during a flight, enabling passengers to watch movies and other content on their personal devices or on seat-back screens where available.

This expansion increases entertainment options across the mainline fleet, giving more customers consistent access to movies and programming regardless of cabin. By combining seat-back systems with device streaming, American Airlines aims to deliver flexible, on-demand entertainment to travelers on domestic routes and beyond.
