Marriott International has opened its first JW Marriott Marquis property in China, bringing the global JW Marriott Marquis portfolio to four hotels. JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Shanghai Pudong features more than 500 guestrooms and is located close to the Lujiazui Central Business District, with convenient access to the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center and the Mercedes-Benz Cultural Arena. Two international airports are also within a short drive, making the hotel well-positioned for both business and leisure travelers.
Rising 39 stories, the hotel showcases distinctive design elements that blend indoor and outdoor water features. Highlights include a heated indoor infinity pool with floor-to-ceiling windows on the pool deck and slanted exterior glass panels that enhance sightlines across the city. Guestrooms combine contemporary design with a light color palette, integrating marble, wood and glass accents to create a refined, calming environment. In-room amenities include premium sound systems and luxury coffee machines to meet modern guest expectations.
Dining options on-site are varied and thoughtfully curated. The hotel offers an all-day dining venue, an upscale grill and bar, and a French-Cantonese fusion restaurant. A rooftop garden eatery with an open kitchen adds an al fresco choice, while the executive lounge serves business and premium guests. The hotel also introduces the JW Garden interactive dining experience, designed to engage diners with creative and immersive culinary moments.
Henry Lee, COO and managing director for Greater China at Marriott International, emphasized Shanghai’s status as a global destination for luxury travelers: “For years, Shanghai has been deemed one of the most iconic cities in China and in the world, drawing in luxury travelers of different backgrounds that call for premium hospitality and personalized service.
