China Airlines Business Class Review: Seats, Service & Amenities

On the Ground: Arriving at Los Angeles International Airport for my flight to Singapore, I waited only about five minutes in line at the China Airlines business-class counter. The attendant was efficient and handled my bags carefully. When I needed a lock for one suitcase, he secured it with a plastic tie and gave clear directions to the China Airlines lounge. It was a smooth start to my 15-day tour of Asia.

The China Airlines passenger lounge, situated within the Korean Air lounge at LAX, was clean, comfortable and well-equipped. There was ample seating, a variety of food and drink options, and power outlets at nearly every seating area—ideal for charging devices before a long flight. I relaxed in the lounge and took advantage of the amenities before boarding.

Pre-Flight: Boarding and settling into my seat were straightforward and well organized. China Airlines’ NextGen Boeing 777-300ER business-class cabin is impressive, featuring a modern 1-2-1 layout that provides direct aisle access for every passenger. The cabin’s design blends dark blue cloud patterns, muted gold accents and persimmon wood-grain finishes, a distinctive and tasteful look that feels contemporary without being overstated.

Once everyone was aboard, crew members offered hot towels and a choice of refreshments, including water and fruit juices. I took a moment to explore the seat controls and storage options and was pleased by how intuitive and comfortable everything felt.

In-Flight: Shortly after takeoff I enjoyed a glass of Bordeaux and slipped into the comfortable slippers provided. The business-class seats convert to full-flat beds with 180-degree recline and memory foam cushions, allowing for a restful sleep. I managed nine to ten hours of uninterrupted rest, which made the overnight portion of the journey far more pleasant.

When I woke, I checked out the in-flight entertainment system. The seat features an 18-inch touchscreen—the largest offered by any Taiwanese carrier—with a modern AVOD library and responsive controls. The system was easy to navigate and offered a wide selection of movies, TV shows and music.

Breakfast was served on approach to Taipei. I chose a spinach frittata accompanied by fresh fruit, pastries, yogurt and vegetables. The meal was well presented and satisfying. I was also impressed by the cleanliness of the lavatories throughout the flight; they were kept in excellent condition, which is notable on a long-haul service.

The Experience: Overall, my time on China Airlines was comfortable and well managed. The business-class cabin layout is practical and passenger-friendly, with straightforward controls and sensible storage. The crew delivered attentive, personalized service—addressing passengers by name, remembering preferences and fulfilling requests promptly. A freshly prepared coffee with cream stood out as a small but memorable detail that exceeded expectations.

The combination of a thoughtfully designed cabin, attentive service, strong in-flight amenities and a reliable sleep environment made the journey enjoyable. I left with a favorable impression of China Airlines’ 777 business class and would be happy to fly this product again.
