Under Canvas has announced the launch of ULUM, a new luxury, safari-inspired outdoor resort brand, opening its first property near Moab, Utah. ULUM Moab sits just steps from the striking Looking Glass Arch and is open for the season through Oct. 23.
Set across 200 acres of dramatic desert terrain, ULUM Moab is designed to reflect and respect the landscape. The resort’s architecture follows the land’s natural contours, integrating low-profile structures and materials that harmonize with the surrounding red-rock vistas.

The contemporary lobby features floor-to-ceiling glass with sweeping views of Looking Glass Arch and Canyonlands National Park beyond. Natural light fills a space finished in local stone, warm wood and polished concrete. The lobby opens onto a broad terraced deck with dipping pools, firepits, a yoga deck and relaxed lounge areas that showcase the resort’s panoramic outlook.
ULUM Moab offers 50 spacious Suite Tents, each approximately 360 square feet. Every suite includes a king bed with Parachute linens and robes, a lounge area furnished by West Elm with a queen sofa-bed and seating, and a private 70-square-foot deck. A contemporary barn door leads to an en-suite bathroom with a rain shower and plant-based Aesop amenities. Interiors emphasize organic materials—natural wood, woven rugs and Pendleton wool blankets—while an evaporative cooling fan and a wood-burning stove provide comfortable temperatures from spring through fall.

As the first luxury outdoor resort of its kind in the area, ULUM Moab combines hotel-quality amenities with immersive outdoor experiences. The property includes upscale dining, dipping pools and a program of complimentary wellness and lifestyle activities—yoga, guided stargazing, hikes, live music and evening s’mores. For customized adventures, ULUM’s Adventure Concierge arranges local experiences such as whitewater rafting, rock climbing, guided national park tours and curated hikes.
“ULUM Moab perfectly blends comfort, style, and outdoor exploration,” said Matt Gaghen, CEO of Under Canvas. “Our location by Looking Glass Arch and the sweeping views across Canyonlands is truly inspiring. We look forward to welcoming guests to a place where they can relax, recharge and reconnect with nature.”

Dining at ULUM emphasizes approachable, well-crafted meals rooted in Southwest flavors. The seasonal menu features locally inspired dishes paired with craft cocktails that highlight regional botanicals such as sage, juniper and prickly pear. Guests can dine al fresco amid the desert backdrop, or stop by the on-site espresso and smoothie bar for premium hot and cold coffee drinks, specialty smoothies and grab-and-go snacks. Double-occupancy rates in July begin at $549 per night.
ULUM Moab is committed to sustainability and responsible tourism. The resort provides Rivian Waypoints Level 2 chargers for electric vehicles and follows International Dark Sky principles to reduce light pollution and preserve nighttime views. Under Canvas also partners with environmental organizations to support conservation through education, volunteer initiatives and donations.
