Explore Lisbon’s Food Scene with New Eating Europe Tours

Late last month, award-winning tour operator Eating Europe introduced new culinary experiences in Lisbon. These four-hour tours guide travelers through Mouraria, one of the city’s oldest neighborhoods, known for its medieval streets and multicultural character.

Called “Eats, Street Art and Undiscovered Lisbon — A Walk Through Baixa & Mouraria,” the experience features six curated tastings that span Lisbon’s vibrant food scene, from beloved street foods to comforting Portuguese classics. Guests also sample a selection of wines and beers, including well-known Portuguese labels and interesting bottles from former Portuguese territories, while walking through historic lanes and lively market areas.

“Eating Europe has come a long way since its humble beginnings as a one tour, one guide operation in Rome back in 2011,” said Kenny Dunn, managing director of Eating Europe. “We’ve seen tremendous growth, especially in the last couple of years, and are thrilled to now be able to offer our clients an opportunity to experience a taste of local life in Lisbon. With modern restaurants serving new-wave Portuguese dishes, long-standing family-run establishments offering the classics, and a wealth of colorful bars and food markets, Lisbon is a perfect foodie destination. We look forward to helping guests discover what makes the city’s cuisine and culture so rich.”

The tours operate daily from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and are priced at €69 per person. They are designed for visitors who want an immersive introduction to Lisbon’s food culture, pairing local history and street art with carefully chosen tastings and drinks.

Participants can expect a relaxed walking pace, knowledgeable local guides, and a mix of stops that showcase both traditional flavors and contemporary culinary trends. The route through Baixa and Mouraria highlights historic architecture, hidden alleys, and lively public spaces, giving travelers context for the dishes and beverages they enjoy along the way.

Whether seeking a first taste of Portuguese cuisine or a deeper exploration of Lisbon’s evolving food scene, the new Eating Europe tour offers a balanced, flavorful itinerary ideal for food lovers and curious travelers alike.
