Delta Premium Launching in 2017: What Travelers Need to Know

Delta Air Lines will introduce Delta Premium, its newest cabin experience, on select international routes in late 2017. Designed for the airline’s longest flights, Delta Premium delivers more space, upgraded service and carefully chosen amenities—repositioning premium features within the premium-economy segment.

Over the past two years Delta has expanded its cabin lineup so travelers can choose an experience that fits their needs. Options now range from Delta One and first class at the top end, through Delta Premium and Delta Comfort Plus, down to main cabin and basic economy for greater value. Each cabin tier is supported by consistent service standards aimed at enhancing the passenger experience.

“Delta Premium is Delta’s latest example of paying careful attention to what customers tell us they want and responding with unique products designed to meet their individual needs,” said Tim Mapes, senior vice president and chief marketing officer, Delta Air Lines.

Delta Premium is built around passenger comfort and thoughtful details. Seat specifications include up to 38 inches of pitch, 19 inches of width and 7 inches of recline, along with adjustable leg and head rests. Amenities include Westin Heavenly in-flight blankets, a pillow and a TUMI amenity kit. Passengers will enjoy pre-departure beverages and seasonal meal selections presented on Alessi serviceware created for Delta.

Onboard entertainment and connectivity are enhanced with a 13.3-inch high-resolution screen offering complimentary movies, TV shows and games, plus noise-canceling headphones. In-seat power ports accommodate both large and small devices, and Sky Priority service speeds connections through the airport.

The first Delta A350 aircraft, arriving in 2017, will include Delta Premium. Each A350 will feature 48 Delta Premium seats, 32 Delta One suites and 226 main cabin seats. Delta plans to add Delta Premium to its Boeing 777 fleet beginning in 2018.

Also debuting on the A350 is the Delta One Suite—the world’s first business-class cabin with a sliding door. The suite creates a private, individual space with a sliding door, dedicated stowage, a widescreen in-flight entertainment system and premium finishes intended to offer an elevated business-class experience.
