CHINA AIRLINES, THE NATIONAL CARRIER of Taiwan is preparing a major rollout in 2014. The airline will introduce its first Boeing 777-300ER, unveil redesigned uniforms, add new special liveries, launch a premium economy cabin, start Tigerair Taiwan, expand its route network and announce a next-generation narrow-body order.

DELIVERY OF THE FIRST BOEING 777-300ER is scheduled for September 2014. Three of these new flagship aircraft will be delivered by the end of the year, with five more due in 2015 and two in 2016. The 777-300ER features three cabin classes — lie-flat business class, a newly introduced premium economy and economy class — and includes Family Couch seating, a row of three economy seats that converts into a flexible, partially flat space for families. The aircraft also offers a Sky Lounge, a walk-up bar and bookshelf area for business-class passengers, along with WiFi connectivity. Initial deployment will be on the Taipei–Hong Kong route, followed by service to Los Angeles and eventually New York City, San Francisco and Frankfurt.

NEW BRAND IMAGE DEVELOPED BY TOP DESIGNERS — China Airlines assembled an international team of designers to create the new brand image. Contributors include Ray Chen, a three-time Design for Asia Award winner; William Cheung, an Oscar-nominated costume designer; Chun-Liang Chen, recognized among top designers for the Tang Prize; and Viola Chen, a Grandesign Etico International Awards recipient. The resulting concept emphasizes Eastern beauty, elegance and simplicity in both visual identity and onboard environments.

UPGRADED BUSINESS CLASS introduces a redesigned premium product with 180-degree lie-flat seats, delivering a personal space for reading and relaxation. The cabin design focuses on comfort and thoughtful detail, aiming to elevate the passenger experience through improved seating, storage and service amenities.

ENHANCED IN-FLIGHT ENTERTAINMENT AND CONNECTIVITY are standout features on the new 777-300ER. The aircraft is equipped with an industry-leading 18-inch screen and the advanced Panasonic eX3 system, which supports multi-touch controls, hundreds of films and shorts, and more than 20 video games. My Favorite lets passengers bookmark programming for later viewing, while Seat Chat enables in-flight messaging and sharing of music, movie and game selections among travelers. The entertainment system also provides duty-free shopping, e-magazines, news updates and in-flight menus. WiFi will be available through a mix of complimentary and paid options: passengers can access weather and destination information free of charge, while full Internet access is offered in one-hour, three-hour and 24-hour packages.
