NH Collection Gent opened its doors in late 2024 after an extensive renovation of the former NH Hotel Gent Belfort. This European debut strengthens Minor Hotels Europe & Americas’ NH Collection Hotels & Resorts presence in Belgium, joining sister properties in Antwerp and Brussels.

Part of the hotel occupies a carefully restored building dating back to the 1913 World Fair, and the renovated interior pays tribute to Ghent’s historic textile magnates. The design takes inspiration from Flemish novelist Hendrik Conscience and his tale of the forbidden love between Veerle Van Artevelde and Lieven Denys. Features such as the 13th-century Denys Medieval Crypt, the Grand Café Van Artevelde restaurant, and the contemporary suites contain references to this romantic local legend.
Situated in Ghent’s historic center, NH Collection Gent provides direct access to major attractions, including St. Bavo’s Cathedral and the Castle of the Counts. Many rooms offer broad views across the city’s historic skyline, with accommodations arranged over four floors to maximize sightlines and guest comfort.

The hotel comprises 174 spacious, modern rooms that reflect Ghent’s textile heritage through fabric art and warm colour schemes. Each room blends contemporary style with historical character. A highlight is the collection of junior suites, each named for members of the Van Artevelde family—figures linked to the city’s textile history—adding a personal, local dimension to the guest experience.
Guests can start their day at the generous breakfast buffet served in the Spinners Restaurant. For traditional Belgian dishes and a broad selection of beers, the Grand Café Van Artevelde is a popular choice. In warmer months, the Dyers Courtyard provides a relaxed outdoor setting for light meals and cold drinks.

For wellness, the property provides a fully equipped gym and a sauna, ideal for guests seeking relaxation or a brief fitness routine. Business travellers and event organisers will find ten flexible meeting and event rooms capable of hosting gatherings of up to 400 participants, making the hotel suitable for conferences, receptions and private functions.
NH Collection Gent combines restored historic architecture with contemporary comfort while celebrating the city’s textile legacy and local stories. Its central location, thoughtfully designed rooms, dining options and event facilities position the hotel as a refined choice for visitors to Ghent.
