What began as a chart-topping band known for tight harmonies has grown into a global phenomenon. Fans can now immerse themselves in ABBA’s legacy at Stockholm, where a dedicated museum preserves and celebrates the group’s history. ABBA The Museum displays an extensive collection of memorabilia, including stage costumes, rare photographs, gold records, instruments from the renowned Polar Studio, video archives, and Benny Andersson’s piano. A holographic installation offers visitors the chance to experience a concert-like environment, providing the illusion of performing alongside ABBA.
Reaching the museum is simple from anywhere in Stockholm — it’s accessible by tram, bus, subway and ferry. Music fans who enjoy performing can audition for a special group called The Choir. Until Feb. 7, hopeful singers are invited to submit a video of their performance to the museum’s official Facebook page for a chance to join a live show in April at the Melody Hotel, which is located in the same building as the museum. The Choir’s director, Karin Bäckström, offers professional coaching, and the museum covers airfare and hotel for the selected participant. Even if you prefer not to sing, the museum’s exhibits are engaging and informative.
Admission to ABBA The Museum also includes entry to the Swedish Music Hall of Fame. That collection traces Sweden’s musical evolution from the 1920s to the present, featuring exhibits and performances that highlight the country’s contributions to pop and popular music culture.
