Marriott International has opened its first hotel in Sochi, Russia, timed to coincide with the 2014 Winter Olympic Games. The Sochi Marriott Krasnaya Polyana is a five-star property located within the new Gorky Gorod ski resort in Krasnaya Polyana, at the foothills of the Caucasus Mountains. It is approximately one hour from Sochi International Airport (AER) when reached by express train.
The hotel comprises 428 guestrooms and suites across seven floors, designed to serve leisure and business travelers visiting the resort and the Olympic venues. Dining options include the River Café, which offers international cuisine, and L’Olivio, specializing in Italian dishes such as pastas, risottos and pizzas, complemented by a broad wine selection.
Guests can also enjoy an on-site spa, one of the largest in the area, featuring nine treatment rooms and private spa suites for relaxation and wellness services. The property aims to combine modern amenities with easy access to the ski facilities and mountain scenery that define Krasnaya Polyana.
Amy McPherson, president and managing director of Marriott International in Europe, commented on the opening, noting the company’s pride in launching its first Sochi hotel and contributing to the region’s development during the Olympic period and beyond.
