The Saxon brand brings modern wellness and refined elegance to South Africa’s Steyn City estate with the opening of its new Saxon Spa. This marks the brand’s first expansion beyond its flagship boutique property in Johannesburg.

Spanning 15,000 square feet across two levels, the spa was conceived by Amanda Elliott and Matthew Fogg of Design Collective. The architecture and interiors draw on the elemental themes of earth, fire, water and air, expressed through a calm palette of warm whites and green hues that complement the site’s tree-filled landscape. A raised walkway serves as a transitional portal, guiding guests from the estate into a serene, inward-focused sanctuary.
Within the spa, treatment rooms offer quiet, restorative environments enhanced by handcrafted chandeliers made from recycled glass by environmental artist Stephen Pikus. The pool and Jacuzzi area feature a bespoke mosaic by Mosaic Art, creating a focal point that merges art and wellness. Embracing the longstanding connection between water and healing, the facility includes a cutting-edge hydrotherapy circuit with a plunge bath, sauna, steam room and heated vitality pools, plus a flotation pool designed for deep muscle release in a meditative setting.

The Saxon Spa has been awarded Platinum Status by the South African Association of Health and Skincare Professionals. Its holistic treatment menu is overseen by spa manager Tanya Lopes, who led the project from concept to completion.
“Having worked on this project for the last three years — from the early stages of conceptualization through feasibilities, forecasts, and budgets — it’s been an incredible journey,” Lopes said. “Shaping a bare shell into a space that reflects our vision of a holistic wellness destination has been both a professional and personal milestone.”

The spa’s wellness offerings include guided yoga and restorative sound therapy on an outdoor deck, alongside a full menu of facials, manicures and pedicures, and an array of massages. Signature and specialty experiences highlight the spa’s therapeutic approach: the Quantum Harmonics Vibroacoustics Personalized Journey for grounding and tension release; the Bellabacci Cupping Full Body Massage, which uses traditional cupping to address deep muscle tension; and the Signature Revitalising Coffee and Rosemary Hammam, a treatment combining a full-body coffee and rosemary scrub to boost circulation and skin tone, a coffee clay wrap and a full-body massage with detoxifying oil.
Designed to integrate nature, art and advanced wellness techniques, the Saxon Spa at Steyn City offers a refined destination for locals and visitors seeking a holistic, restorative experience within an elegant boutique setting.
