The Westin Hapuna Beach Resort opened last week, marking Westin’s arrival on Hawai‘i’s Big Island following a multimillion-dollar renovation that refreshed guestrooms, suites, public spaces and dining concepts.
“The June 25, 2018 opening of The Westin Hapuna Beach Resort reinforces that the brand is continuing to grow in lockstep with the evolving demand of travelers, who are increasingly prioritizing their well-being while on the road — even when on vacation,” said Brian Povinelli, SVP and global brand leader, Westin Hotels & Resorts. “From our iconic Heavenly Bed and Gear Lending program, to our innovative fitness partnerships with Peloton and TRX, we are thrilled to offer a meaningful wellness proposition for travelers, as only Westin can.”
The resort now features some of the largest accommodations on the Kohala Coast, with 232 guestrooms and 17 suites. Guestrooms and public areas are designed to feel calm and restorative, highlighted by a custom living wall and vertical garden. The interior palette draws on the island’s natural flora and fauna to create a relaxed, contemporary atmosphere.
Dining options were expanded to offer a range of flavors and settings. Meridia is a Mediterranean display kitchen that emphasizes shared plates and culinary theater. Naupaka Beach Grill provides a casual poolside experience with local brews. ‘Ikena Landing is an open-air venue focused on breakfast, while Piko Coffee + Bar serves 100 percent Kona coffee for guests starting their day.
The resort includes distinct pool experiences for adults and families. Adults can relax at an infinity-edge pool that offers private cabanas, chaise lounges and pool-ledge loungers. A separate family pool supports a more lively atmosphere for children and parents. Families also benefit from the Westin Family Program, which features an updated Kids Club concept as well as family-focused activities and amenities to make a stay easier and more enjoyable for parents and children.
Overall, the renovation and new offerings position The Westin Hapuna Beach Resort as a destination that balances wellness, family-friendly amenities and elevated dining, appealing to travelers seeking both relaxation and thoughtful service on Hawai‘i’s Big Island.
