Following Virgin America’s launch of service from Los Angeles (LAX) to Honolulu (HNL) in May, the airline has introduced a new nonstop route this month between Los Angeles and Kahului Airport (OGG) on Maui. Virgin America is the only carrier on this route operating modern aircraft with three distinct service classes, touch-screen personal entertainment and an award-winning food and beverage program.
“Since we began flying to Hawai‘i last year, guest response has been overwhelmingly positive, and we’re excited to add another route that lets travelers fly from Los Angeles to Maui in style,” said John MacLeod, senior vice president of sales and planning at Virgin America. “Our aircraft feature three custom-designed classes of service, signature mood lighting, touch-screen entertainment at every seat and an on-demand menu of food and cocktails — so passengers can start their vacation the moment they board.”
To mark the new route, Virgin America is offering introductory fares starting at $199 one way. Members of the airline’s Elevate loyalty program can also redeem award travel on the route with no blackout dates starting at 8,596 points.
The daily outbound flight departs Los Angeles at 9:35 a.m. and arrives in Kahului at 12:25 p.m. The return service leaves Maui at 1:40 p.m., arriving back in Los Angeles at 9:55 p.m.
Additionally, this month Virgin America reaffirmed its partnership with Aha Pūnana Leo, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the Hawaiian language. The airline is donating $10,000 to support Aha Pūnana Leo’s educational programs in Maui.
