From March, Virgin Atlantic will expand its fleet with four new Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
Each A330-200 is configured with 287 seats and offers full onboard WiFi, including free messaging for Upper Class passengers. The layout includes 19 Upper Class seats, 45 extra-legroom economy seats and 222 standard economy seats. Every aircraft is equipped with Zodiac inflight entertainment, providing access to more than 600 hours of TV, movies and music.
Upper Class now features three distinct suite options to suit different travel preferences. The Love Suite, positioned in the center of the cabin, is designed for couples or small groups. The Solo Freedom Suite offers direct aisle access for convenience. The Solo Corner Suite provides a window position and extra privacy for solo travelers.
Phil Maher, Executive Vice President of Operations at Virgin Atlantic, said the additional aircraft will help ensure schedule resilience amid an industry-wide shortage of Trent 1000 engines that affects the airline’s Boeing 787 fleet. He emphasized that the new A330-200s will arrive in the airline’s signature livery and be operated by Virgin Atlantic’s experienced pilots and cabin crew.
Passengers can expect the airline’s award-winning food and drink offerings and extensive entertainment options on these aircraft. Upper Class will also introduce new amenities such as a barista-style coffee menu and free WiFi messaging. The Economy cabin provides 222 seats, and the airline plans to install a premium economy cabin on each A330-200 later in the year.
