Uniworld Launches Jewish Heritage River Cruises: Dates & Itineraries

In 2017, luxury river cruise operator Uniworld introduced a series of Jewish heritage–themed voyages, including a Rhine–Main Discovery & Munich itinerary that sails from Munich to Cologne. The route travels through historic towns such as Dachau, Nuremberg, Frankfurt and Wertheim, and features stops at synagogues, Jewish cemeteries, Holocaust memorials, World War II sites, museums and long-standing Jewish neighborhoods.

Each shore excursion is led by expert guides who place sites in their proper historical and cultural context. The themed cruises aboard the River Ambassador offer gourmet (non-kosher) dining and regional wines, and include Signature Lectures on Jewish topics like Jewish intellectuals, writers and musicians and the history of Jews in Europe. These talks are designed to deepen guests’ understanding of Jewish life and heritage across the continent.

The 10-day Rhine itinerary is presented as a unique Jewish-themed river cruise, and the program includes customizable options that let passengers tailor portions of the trip to reflect their interests. Through a menu of alternative excursions and activities, travelers can choose the experiences that resonate most with them while enjoying comfortable accommodations, curated onboard enrichment and carefully organized shore visits.

Overall, the offering combines cultural discovery, historical education and leisurely river travel, providing travelers with a focused way to explore Jewish history in key European locations along the Rhine and Main rivers.
