United Airlines has released a refreshed in-flight safety video that highlights seven global destinations as part of its new “Safety is Global” campaign.
The video opens in Rio de Janeiro during Carnival, where crew members demonstrate essential safety procedures amid the festival’s vibrant atmosphere. From there, it moves to Alaska to showcase the aurora borealis, then to Munich during Oktoberfest, and on to Manhattan for scenes tied to the New York City Marathon.
Additional destinations featured in the video include Delhi during the Holi Festival, Denver’s Rocky Mountain Balloon Festival, and Chengdu’s Chinese New Year Lantern Festival. Each location provides a distinctive backdrop while reinforcing the same clear safety instructions.
“A few years back, we made our safety demonstration more interactive and entertaining to engage customers during the safety briefing, one of the most important parts of the flight,” said Mark Krolick, vice president of marketing at United. “Introducing the new Safety is Global video continues the theme of highlighting some of the amazingly diverse, global cities that we fly to, and giving our customers the chance to visit one of their own dream destinations.”
The updated video balances safety guidance with cultural moments from around the world, aiming to keep passengers attentive while celebrating the range of places served by the airline. By pairing straightforward instructions with visually engaging scenes, the airline intends to maintain compliance with safety standards while offering a brief travel-inspired experience before takeoff.
United’s approach reflects a trend among carriers to make routine safety briefings more memorable and accessible without compromising clarity. The new “Safety is Global” piece continues that evolution, using recognizable events and settings to connect with passengers and underscore the importance of following onboard safety procedures.
