Starwood’s Tribute Portfolio has made its European debut with the addition of the Great Northern Hotel, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, in London. Launched in April as Starwood’s tenth brand, Tribute Portfolio curates a collection of independent hotels and resorts that let guests “stay independent” while enjoying the consistency and support of a global hospitality company.
“We are delighted to welcome the Great Northern Hotel as the first Tribute Portfolio property in Europe,” said Dave Marr, global brand leader for Tribute Portfolio and Sheraton Hotels & Resorts. “The hotel has been designed with meticulous attention to detail, and we’re excited to work alongside Jeremy Robson as he continues to realize his independent vision.”
Situated in the new Western Concourse of King’s Cross, near the Eurostar terminus at St. Pancras International, the Great Northern stands as a historic London landmark and one of the city’s finest upscale boutique hotels. Originally opened in 1854, the property underwent a careful refurbishment and redesign that honors its rich history while offering modern comforts and design-forward interiors.
The hotel’s room categories reflect its railway heritage and attention to craft. The Cubitt rooms feature high ceilings and large twin sash windows that flood the spaces with natural light. The Couchette rooms reinterpret the classic railway sleeper car with inventive layouts and detailing that evoke travel-era charm. On the top floor, the Wainscot rooms showcase mansard-style ceilings and Black American Walnut wainscot paneling; together with deep aubergine paint tones, these rooms create an intimate, seductive atmosphere.
“Since our reopening in 2013, the Great Northern Hotel has established itself as one of London’s premier boutique destinations,” said Jeremy Robson, owner of the Great Northern Hotel. “Restoring this property was a long-held ambition, and I’m incredibly proud of the team that helped transform it into a landmark that serves visitors and Londoners alike. Joining Tribute Portfolio and the Starwood collection is an exciting next step—we look forward to building on our success with a brand that supports our independence while preserving everything that makes the Great Northern Hotel unique and much loved.”
