Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur by Shangri-La — Downtown Riverfront Stay

Arrival/Check-In: I arrived at Traders Hotel on a Friday evening after a long day of meetings in Kuala Lumpur. The hotel’s impressive façade is visible from many parts of the city, and its location is ideal for business travelers—close to the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, the Petronas Twin Towers and Merdeka Square. Suria KLCC shopping mall and other shopping and tourist areas are within walking distance. Check-in took about ten minutes during a busy Friday evening; at quieter times it would likely be faster. The front desk staff were friendly and efficient and explained the hotel’s amenities and dining options, providing a warm welcome.

Guest Quarters: Entering my room, I was immediately struck by a direct, unobstructed view of the Petronas Twin Towers and the surrounding KLCC Park. As night fell, the towers lit up beautifully, creating a memorable vista. To the left of the entrance a generous closet and a roomy in-room safe provided ample storage. To the right, the modern bathroom featured a separate bathtub and shower. Ahead, a large executive desk and a flat-screen television were positioned before the sleeping and seating areas. The room offered major U.S. and international news channels, complimentary WiFi, and contemporary furnishings. After a busy week in Southeast Asia, I appreciated the comfortable, well-appointed king bed and enjoyed a restful night’s sleep.

Services/Amenities: Traders Hotel offers a range of facilities suited to both business and leisure travelers. Dining options include two stylish restaurants and an all-day buffet, Gobo Chit Chat, where breakfasts featured a broad selection of international dishes. The rooftop infinity pool with a poolside bar provides striking city views, while the 24-hour fitness center includes modern equipment and overlooks KLCC Park. The spa, located on the rooftop, offers treatments plus a sauna and steam facilities.

Business services include meeting rooms, a business center, complimentary local shuttle service, laundry and valet, and limousine service with onboard WiFi. After checking in Friday night, I visited SkyBar for a drink and enjoyed a trendy atmosphere alongside views of the infinity pool and city skyline. On Saturday morning I booked a 60-minute Freedom massage at theSPA; the therapists were professional and attentive, and the rooftop setting enhanced the experience. Each day I used the well-equipped gym, which provided free towels, water and fruit—everything a fitness-minded traveler needs while on the road.

The Experience: My weekend stay at Traders Hotel in Kuala Lumpur was delightful. The hotel blends comfortable, modern rooms with convenient business services and attractive leisure facilities. Its central location, thoughtful amenities and attentive staff make it a solid choice for both business and leisure travelers. I would gladly return to this property on a future visit.
