Hotelmapper.com, a hotel reservation site that maps properties worldwide by rate and location, has published its 2013 hotel reservation trends report. The findings show a strong consumer preference for beach destinations this year, followed by increased interest in Los Angeles and New York. At the same time, bookings for European cities and theme-park destinations have declined over the past 12 months.
The report suggests shifts in traveler priorities. Fewer guests are seeking bundled, all-in-one packages, while average nightly hotel rates have fallen in many markets. Lower prices appear to give travelers more flexibility, reducing the emphasis on hunting for deals and allowing choices to be guided more by location and experience.
