“The Palace has been woven into Madrid’s cultural fabric for more than a century,” said Helen Leighton, vice president, Luxury Brands, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Marriott International. “Joining The Luxury Collection enabled the team to fully celebrate the building’s eclectic history through a careful, authentic restoration. The Palace’s distinctive character will appeal to both locals and visitors, and we are excited to begin this new chapter.”

The hotel occupies a prime location within walking distance of Madrid’s key attractions, including the Prado Museum, Retiro Park and Plaza Mayor, and reveals a refreshed historic façade. Ruiz Larrea Arquitectura restored the exterior to its original 1912 appearance, revealing a warm beige finish offset by terracotta details and ornate floral garlands. Skilled glaziers from Maumejean rebuilt and restored the hotel’s stained-glass and iron dome, which comprises 1,875 panes of glass.

Inside, designer Làzaro Rosa-Violán led the renovation of the hotel’s 470 guestrooms and suites. Design elements emphasize craftsmanship and classic materials: wool carpets, custom wooden boiserie, hand-painted wallpapers, mosaic tiling, marble fireplaces and luxurious textiles feature throughout. Spanish designer Juanjo Oliva created the new staff uniforms, aligning service style with the hotel’s renewed aesthetic.
