Located at Terranea Resort, the 102-acre oceanfront property in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, The Spa at Terranea has completed a $4.5 million renovation led by Los Angeles–based interior design firm RVD Associates. The 50,000-square-foot spa now features refreshed décor throughout, a redesigned entry and lobby, upgraded locker rooms and bathrooms, renovated treatment rooms and lounges, and revitalized outdoor spaces that better integrate the coastal setting.

“We are thrilled to elevate the guest experience and create a luxurious yet approachable waterfront space for our visitors,” said Ralph Grippo, president of Terranea Resort. He noted that rising interest in self-care has helped drive growth across the global spa market. The renovation aims to balance energy and serenity, capturing the natural beauty of the Palos Verdes Peninsula while enhancing the spa’s indoor/outdoor aesthetic with refined finishes and thoughtful details.
Rodrigo Vargas, principal at RVD Associates, described the design as inspired by the area’s raw coastal character. The refreshed palette uses soft blues, sandy neutrals and organic materials to evoke a relaxed, seaside atmosphere. Key design elements include a monolithic quartzite reception desk in the lobby and three ergonomic Evo loungers by Gharieni positioned in the co-ed relaxation room.

The spa’s renewed program also includes two new signature treatments designed to complement the updated facilities:
Harmonic Aura Awakening
This 60-minute therapy uses Himalayan singing bowls to introduce healing vibrations across the body, targeting chakra points to encourage relaxation and balance. The sound work is followed by a marma point body and facial massage using Ayurvedic plant extracts, blending sound healing with targeted manual techniques.
HydraFacial
Also offered as a 60-minute service, the HydraFacial combines hydra-dermabrasion and a gentle peel to deeply cleanse and exfoliate skin, improving texture and radiance with immediate, visible results.
