Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to expand into Bangladesh with its first hotel in the country. Scheduled to open in 2018, Swissôtel Dhaka will be situated opposite the Motijheel commercial district, a central hub for finance and business activity.
The new property is planned to offer 375 guestrooms and suites, along with six restaurants and bars, dedicated meeting and event space, and a full-service spa. The hotel aims to serve both international and domestic travelers, providing upscale accommodation and amenities tailored to corporate, leisure, and long-stay guests.
Dhaka has been experiencing steady economic growth, driven by its strong textile manufacturing sector as well as expansion in telecommunications and service industries. That growth has increased demand for high-quality hotel accommodation, particularly in and around the commercial centers. “Dhaka is experiencing sustainable growth, particularly in the financial and textile manufacturing sectors, but also in the telecommunications and service industries which has resulted in strong demand for high quality hotel accommodation,” said Meinhard Huck, president of Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts.
Swissôtel Dhaka is expected to cater to business travelers attending meetings and conferences, as well as tourists seeking modern comforts in the city. With a mix of dining options, flexible meeting facilities and wellness services, the hotel will aim to deliver Swissôtel’s signature blend of contemporary design and efficient hospitality.
By locating the property near Motijheel, Swissôtel positions itself close to key corporate offices, financial institutions and commercial enterprises, meeting the needs of guests who require convenient access to Dhaka’s business district. The sizeable room inventory and variety of on-site amenities are intended to accommodate growing demand from both corporate bookings and special events.
The announcement reflects Swissôtel’s broader strategy to expand its presence in dynamic markets across Asia, responding to rising travel and commerce in regional capitals. As the opening approaches, further details about design, exact amenities and reservation availability are expected to be released by the brand.
