Stay at The Dan Tel Aviv: Luxury Seafront Hotel in Tel Aviv

Arrival/Check-In: Check-in was a bit confused, mainly because our group debated whether to add a half-day to our stay instead of leaving early. We ultimately checked out in the morning, which in hindsight may not have been ideal. The front desk staff remained professional despite the back-and-forth and soon showed us to our rooms, bringing all of our oversized bags. The view of the Mediterranean from the room was spectacular.

Guest Quarters: The hotel has a classic, mid-century feel—evoking a James Bond-era elegance. While some areas could benefit from updating, the rooms are functional and well-equipped. Our room was compact: the bathroom was immediately to the right of the entry and a closet to the left. A long built-in unit ran along one wall serving as storage, TV and desk space, ending at the window. On the opposite side was a king-sized bed with night tables and a small sofa by the window. The beach views were outstanding, and I did take the chance to swim in the sea.

Services and Amenities: Though the property could use some modernization, it makes up for it with solid services and amenities. Breakfast in the Yam restaurant was bustling, with a wide selection across several buffets and cooked-to-order options, so there was plenty to choose from.

After a full day exploring Tel Aviv, we had several hours before our driver to Ben Gurion Airport. We spent time in the lobby lounge bar catching up on emails, then followed a covered walkway to a large indoor pool. A few laps and a quick shower left me feeling refreshed and ready for the flight home.

When we checked out for the day tour, we left our luggage with the baggage hold. On return, the baggage area was disorganized and chaotic; I had to enter the small storage room to locate our bags and pull them out for the driver. The doorman had already left for the evening, and the security attendant showed little concern, which left me uneasy about the handling and security of our belongings. This aspect did not meet the expectations one might have for a hotel of this caliber.

The Experience: The Dan has hosted many famous guests and carries a sense of history and prestige. The pool and beach are real highlights of the property and enhance the overall experience.
