Royal Air Maroc Business Class Review: Service, Seats & Experience

ON THE GROUND: During my recent trip to Morocco, I flew Royal Air Maroc business class from New York (JFK) to Casablanca (CMN). For many travelers Morocco is a bucket-list destination, and the airline’s direct service makes the journey straightforward and comfortable.

Check-in at JFK was efficient. Business-class passengers have a dedicated line, and my bags were tagged priority, which sped things up on arrival. The staff at the counter were friendly and thorough, ensuring I had the necessary travel documents. Before departure I used the Primeclass Lounge available to Royal Air Maroc business passengers. The lounge is modest compared with larger international hubs, but it offered a quiet space to relax, a modest buffet with light meal options, and a full-service bar. Boarding began on schedule, and business-class passengers were called early, allowing an easy and orderly entry to the aircraft.

PRE-FLIGHT: The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner in Royal Air Maroc’s fleet features a 1-2-1 business-class layout, which means every passenger has direct aisle access — an important benefit for long-haul comfort. My seat was roomy and already equipped with a large pillow, blanket, and amenity kit. The crew greeted passengers warmly and offered pre-departure beverages, including traditional Moroccan mint tea, a distinctive and pleasant touch.

The amenity kit included quality skincare items, socks and an eye mask — all the basics for a comfortable flight. The in-flight entertainment system provided a wide selection of movies, TV shows and Moroccan music on a large personal screen, giving plenty of options for relaxation or distraction.

Menus were handed out before takeoff, previewing a multicourse dinner that blended Moroccan specialties with international dishes. The variety catered well to different palates and set expectations for a satisfying meal service.

IN-FLIGHT: Dinner service began soon after takeoff. I chose tomato soup followed by salmon; both courses were well prepared and flavorful. The meal unfolded with a fresh salad and Moroccan mezze as starters, followed by a cheese course and a selection of desserts. Beverage choices included Moroccan beer, wines, coffee and tea. After dining, the seat converted smoothly into a fully lie-flat bed. The bedding was comfortable, and the cabin’s quiet atmosphere made it easy to get several hours of sleep — important for adjusting to Moroccan time.

About 90 minutes before arrival, breakfast was served with light options such as fruit, yogurt and pastries. The flight landed on time in Casablanca, and priority baggage handling made exiting the airport quick and straightforward.

TOP TAKEAWAYS:

  • Moroccan hospitality was evident throughout the flight, from the mint tea welcome to Moroccan dishes on the menu.
  • Lie-flat seats, priority boarding and a peaceful cabin created a restful overnight experience.
  • Thoughtful amenities and attentive service helped set a positive tone for the trip to Morocco.
