Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement to operate the iconic Hôtel de Crillon in Paris. The historic property is currently closed while it undergoes an extensive two-year restoration, with a planned reopening in 2015. Situated on the Place de la Concorde, Hôtel de Crillon originally opened in 1758 after being commissioned during the reign of Louis XV.
Hôtel de Crillon is widely regarded as one of Paris’s most distinguished addresses, combining architectural grandeur with a storied past. The restoration program aims to preserve the building’s classical features while upgrading facilities and guest services to meet contemporary luxury standards. The renovation will encompass public areas, guest rooms and suites, dining venues, and back-of-house operations to ensure the hotel offers modern comfort without compromising its historic character.
“Hôtel de Crillon is more than just one of the world’s most majestic hotels. It is a landmark that personifies the poise, elegance and spirit of Paris,” said Radha Arora, president of Rosewood. Under Rosewood’s management, the property is expected to showcase the brand’s signature approach to luxury hospitality: a focus on place-specific design, bespoke service, and curated cultural experiences that reflect the destination’s heritage.
The Hôtel de Crillon sits on a prestigious site overlooking the Place de la Concorde and benefits from proximity to Paris’s major museums, shopping districts and cultural institutions. Its history spans centuries of French life and politics, and the renovation intends to highlight original decorative elements while introducing refined contemporary touches appropriate for a twenty-first-century luxury hotel.
Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, based in Dallas, has been expanding its global portfolio of high-end properties. In 2014, the company planned openings in several international markets, including Beijing, Riyadh, the Baha Mar resort in the Caribbean, Phuket, Bali and Bangkok. Each new property is developed to reflect its locale, combining local materials, craftsmanship and culinary influences with Rosewood’s standards for guest comfort and personalized service.
The restoration of Hôtel de Crillon will be closely overseen by heritage specialists, conservators and designers experienced in landmark property projects. The goal is to deliver a hotel that honors the building’s distinguished past while providing a discreet, contemporary luxury experience for international travelers and discerning locals alike. The revamped hotel will feature updated accommodations, enhanced dining and bar concepts, refined event and meeting spaces, and a suite of amenities aligned with modern luxury expectations.
When it reopens, Hôtel de Crillon is expected to reassert itself among Paris’s top luxury hotels, offering visitors an opportunity to stay within a living piece of French history. Rosewood’s stewardship seeks to balance preservation and innovation, ensuring the hotel remains a symbol of Parisian elegance for future generations while meeting the exacting standards of today’s luxury clientele.
