Renovated Left Bank Hotel Reopens in Paris: What to Expect

Long a landmark in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés quarter of Paris’s Left Bank, the Lutetia—now part of The Set collection—reopens to luxury travelers this spring after an extensive restoration. First established in 1910 by the family behind Le Bon Marché, the historic hotel has been thoughtfully modernized under the direction of architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte, who blended contemporary design with the property’s original Art Deco and Art Nouveau details.

The hotel spans seven floors and offers 184 guest rooms, including 47 suites. The revamped room categories include newly designed guestrooms, signature suites and larger suite configurations. Among the most notable accommodations are a two-bedroom Presidential Suite and two penthouse suites that provide private access to expansive terraces with impressive city views.

Public and leisure spaces have been reimagined to reflect both the hotel’s storied past and a contemporary hospitality vision. Dining and social venues include a Jazz Bar, the Orangerie, the Salon Saint-Germain and the Salon Crystal, each designed to offer distinct atmospheres for relaxation and conversation. Executive chef Benjamin Brial—whose background includes the Paris Ritz, Four Seasons George V’s Le Cinq and the two-Michelin-starred Apicius—leads the culinary program, promising refined dining experiences anchored in French tradition and modern technique.

Wellness and leisure facilities center on the Akasha Holistic Wellbeing Centre, a comprehensive spa complex designed to help guests unwind and recharge. The center features six treatment rooms, a sauna, a steam bath, and a plunge pool, alongside a swimming pool and an infinity-edge Jacuzzi. A modern fitness center complements these amenities, offering a full range of options for health-conscious visitors.

Throughout the restoration, care was taken to preserve the Lutetia’s architectural heritage while introducing contemporary comforts and sustainable operational upgrades. The result is a luxury hotel that honors its historical identity while accommodating modern expectations for design, comfort and service—positioning the Lutetia once again as a premier address in Paris for international travelers seeking elegance, culture and refined hospitality.
