The Duke Energy Convention Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, began a major transformation on July 1 to introduce modern, state-of-the-art facilities and enhanced guest experiences as part of the broader reinvention of downtown Cincinnati’s convention district. The project is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2025, and Visit Cincy is already taking bookings for 2026 and beyond.
The redesigned center will feature energy-efficient exhibit and meeting areas, updated ballrooms, an expanded pre-function space, new outdoor event options, and a rooftop terrace designed for both gatherings and scenic views of the city.

“The reimagined Duke Energy Convention Center will be a game-changer, providing a modern, dynamic space that meets the evolving needs of event planners and attendees,” said Julie Calvert, president and CEO of Visit Cincy. “We are excited about the opportunities this transformation will bring and look forward to unveiling a venue that truly reflects the vibrant spirit of Cincinnati. We encourage event planners to secure their dates now and be among the first to experience our newly renovated space in 2026.”
While the center undergoes renovation, a variety of alternative venues across the region will accommodate events of all sizes. Options include the Sharonville Convention Center, historic landmarks, contemporary event spaces, and hotels that can host meetings, banquets, and conferences. The Meeting Made Cincy campaign highlights these local alternatives and the advantages of staging events in Cincinnati, from accessible transportation and diverse lodging options to robust local support services.

“Convention business will remain strong, despite the center being offline,” Calvert added. “Hotels, the Sharonville Convention Center, and many other unique venues are fully committed to ensuring that the needs of every group are met and exceeded, so business continues to thrive. We are also excited to offer the opportunity to book events at the updated DECC for 2026 and beyond.”
The renovation aims not only to modernize physical spaces but also to improve sustainability and flexibility for events of varying sizes and formats. Planners can expect upgraded technology infrastructure, improved flow between exhibit and meeting areas, and refreshed public spaces that support networking and social activities. Upon reopening, the reimagined Convention Center will offer a compelling new option for regional, national, and international events, complementing Cincinnati’s existing hospitality and cultural assets.
Event organizers interested in future dates and details are encouraged to contact Visit Cincy to learn more about available booking windows for 2026 and later, and to explore the range of alternate venues that will host events during the renovation period.
