In May 2019, Salvatore Ferragamo of Il Borro Wines will host a private charter aboard the Crystal Skye. The Boeing 777-200LR—praised for its spaciousness and luxury—will operate a special flight from Sarasota, Florida, to South Africa and feature a tasting of wines from Ferragamo’s Italian estate vineyard.

Organized by Admiral Travel International, this expedition departs from the usual Crystal Skye model by allowing individual seat purchases instead of requiring an entire charter. The jet is outfitted with 88 handcrafted, fully reclining flatbed seats inspired by first-class airline accommodations. Onboard amenities enhance the travel experience and include a stand-up bar and social lounge, a professional mixologist, an executive chef, convertible dining-and-gaming tables, and a dedicated team of Skye Attendants to serve guests.
For travelers who haven’t sailed with Crystal in some time, the line’s recent redesigns offer notable upgrades. The Crystal Serenity now features 36 Seabreeze Penthouses and two Seabreeze Penthouse Suites in place of former verandah suites. While total guest capacity is reduced to 980, crew numbers remain steady, improving the guest-to-crew ratio and elevating service levels.
Guests can expect personalized butler service, spa-inspired bathrooms, walk-in closets, private verandahs, and high-quality linens. These enhancements create a comfortable retreat at sea—a tranquil sanctuary to return to after a full day exploring ports of call.
