Whether you’re a seasoned karaoke performer or simply enjoy singing for fun, you can put your vocal skills to the test at sea with Princess Cruises’ The Voice of the Ocean. Presented aboard Regal Princess in October and on Royal Princess and Caribbean Princess in November, The Voice of the Ocean brings a seafaring version of NBC’s well-known singing competition directly to guests.
Guests aged 16 and older have two opportunities to audition near the start of the cruise. Contestants who are selected will be paired with a mentor and rehearse with the Princess Band. Backup singers are provided to support finalists during their rehearsals and the live performance.
The ship’s cruise director hosts The Voice of the Ocean Live Show in the Princess Theater on the final night of the sailing. Up to nine contestants perform while three coaches listen without seeing the singers, following the blind-audition format popularized by the television show. Coaches form teams from their blind selections, and each team selects a finalist to perform for the full shipboard audience. The audience votes to determine the ship’s favorite vocalist, who is crowned The Voice of the Ocean for that sailing.
Following initial sailings, The Voice of the Ocean program expanded to additional ships across the Princess fleet, offering more guests the chance to compete, be mentored, and perform onstage with professional musical support. For performers and fans alike, the experience combines the excitement of a live music competition with the camaraderie and entertainment of a cruise vacation.
