It’s a new day for Emerald and Sapphire members of oneworld member airlines’ frequent flyer programs. Effective Aug. 10, Emerald and Sapphire members departing London Heathrow Airport (LHR) on any flight operated by American Airlines, British Airways, or Iberia can use fast-track lanes through security, regardless of cabin class.
The fast-track service is available from the three terminals these carriers operate from at Heathrow: Terminals 1, 3, and 5. Emerald and Sapphire members already have access to fast-track lanes for immigration when arriving at London Heathrow on British Airways flights; this change extends the security benefit for departures as well.
This expansion is part of oneworld’s ongoing enhancement of benefits for top-tier frequent flyers. Earlier in the year, oneworld introduced fast-track access for Emerald members at selected airports and on selected member airlines. Since that introduction, more alliance partners have adopted the service and it has been rolled out at an increasing number of airports.
With the Aug. 10 update, the initiative reaches its most significant expansion so far by extending the fast-track security benefit to both Emerald and Sapphire ranks for eligible departures from a major hub.
Members traveling from Heathrow on these carriers should check their membership status and any email or app notifications from their frequent flyer program for specific instructions on how to access fast-track lanes on the day of travel. Airport signage and staff at security checkpoints can also confirm eligibility.
This change aims to streamline the airport experience for high-tier oneworld members, reducing time spent in security queues and helping travelers reach their departure gates more quickly. As the alliance continues to broaden its premium perks, travelers with Emerald and Sapphire status can expect improved access and convenience at more gateways around the world.
