The recently restored Ashford Castle has unveiled a new spa and gym, completing a two-year restoration and enhancement program that modernized facilities while preserving the property’s historic character.
The Spa at Ashford Castle occupies a striking bronze conservatory designed by French architect Philippe Bonino. Set within the castle’s tranquil County Mayo surroundings, the facility blends contemporary amenities with the natural beauty of the estate.
Decorated in a soothing palette of greys, greens and creams, The Spa offers five treatment rooms, a hammam, steam room, manicure and pedicure area, a relaxation suite and an outdoor terrace with views over Ireland’s second-largest lake, Lough Corrib. Therapies draw from three product lines: organic Irish brand Voya, known for treatments using hand-harvested seaweed; Elemis, an internationally recognized skincare range; and the Red Carnation Hotels B | Africa collection.
The fitness program PureFlow is available at the new gym. Designed to promote improved circulation, PureFlow aims to boost alertness, reduce fatigue and support endurance, performance and recovery through targeted exercises and recovery protocols.
A focal design element in the pool area is the Tree of Life mural by South African ceramic mosaic artist Jane Du Rand. Inspired by Irish folklore and Celtic mythology, the mural features an oak tree—long regarded by the Celts as a symbol of wisdom and luck—along with woodland creatures woven into the tree’s branches and roots, creating a contemplative atmosphere for guests.
To mark the spa’s opening, Ashford Castle introduced two curated packages: The Ultimate Ashford Escape and Awaken Your Senses. Both combine overnight accommodations with spa treatments and were launched as promotional offers to showcase the new facilities.
Located on 350 acres along the shores of Lough Corrib and the River Cong in County Mayo, Ashford Castle provides 85 guestrooms and a broad range of on-site activities and services. The estate includes an equestrian center, fishing school, a nine-hole golf course, a school of falconry, multiple dining rooms, a billiard room, a cigar terrace and a wine cellar, offering guests a comprehensive country-house experience.
