Meetings & Events in Bogotá: Top Venues, Tips & Why Visit

Bogotá, the capital of Colombia, has become one of Latin America’s leading centers for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions. The city’s capacity to host events of varied sizes and formats, its business-friendly environment and its vibrant neighborhoods make Bogotá a popular choice for both business and leisure travelers.

El Dorado International Airport sits only about 5.5 miles (approximately 15 minutes) from the city’s main MICE venues and hotels, and offers more than 80 direct routes, about half of them international. With frequent departures from many carriers, flights to Bogotá are convenient and plentiful; last year the airport efficiently handled roughly 40 million passengers.

Among the city’s roughly 29,000 hotel rooms, the 410 rooms at the Hilton Bogota Corferias stand out for modern, upscale accommodations and eight advanced meeting rooms. The hotel adjoins the Corferias International Business and Exhibition Center, Colombia’s largest exhibition complex. Corferias comprises 22 pavilions and outdoor areas, accommodates up to 15,000 visitors, and sits adjacent to the Ágora Bogotá Convention Center, which opened in 2017. Together these venues offer approximately 1.7 million square feet of event space, 68 meeting rooms and seating for up to 24,000 spectators for cultural or artistic programs.

During breaks from meetings it’s easy to grab a taxi and explore La Candelaria, Bogotá’s oldest neighborhood. This historic quarter, with steep cobblestone streets and colonial mansions, stretches toward the forested foothills of the Andes and offers a compact area full of culture and charm. Restaurants like Fulanitos occupy restored colonial homes with courtyards and city views. Nearby attractions include the Botero Museum and the Gold Museum, and the area comes alive at night with music and dance venues.

In 2023 Bogotá hosted Smart City Expo Bogotá, a major international event focused on urban innovation, attracting about 15,000 attendees. Following that success, the city will welcome the event again in 2024 (Sept. 25–27).

Bogotá plans a Science, Technology and Innovation District by 2026, a large urban renewal project that will repurpose about 610 acres for 5G labs, innovation hubs and collaborative spaces to support science, technology and startups. The project is led locally by the city’s Economic Development Secretariat, the Chamber of Commerce and Corferias; design is being developed by the Mazzanti–Gensler team under architect Giancarlo Mazzanti and the global firm Gensler.

In startup investment trends for 2022, American investors were the most active in the Bogotá region, participating in 44 transactions by the third quarter. Colombian investors followed with 15 transactions, and investors from Mexico, Brazil, Switzerland and Germany also took part in multiple deals, reflecting growing international interest in the local startup ecosystem.

UNIQUE VENUES
For events that emphasize science and technology, the Maloka Interactive Center west of the city offers specialized spaces for corporate gatherings. Its main dome theater seats about 309 people and evokes a space-age atmosphere, while additional rooms, workshop areas for smaller groups and an on-site restaurant make it well suited for tech-focused conferences and hands-on sessions. The center provides audiovisual support and free parking.

Another cultural option for meetings is the Museum of Art Miguel Urrutia (Museum of Art of the Bank of the Republic). The museum houses a wide-ranging collection from the 16th century through contemporary works from Colombia and across Latin America, and it can serve as a distinctive venue for receptions, presentations and private tours. It is connected to the Museo de la Moneda, which preserves historic coins from the region.

About 25 minutes north of La Candelaria, the José Celestino Mutis Botanical Garden, the country’s largest botanical garden, highlights the region’s ecosystem diversity with greenhouses, an arboretum and outdoor gardens. The garden offers event spaces that can accommodate up to 600 guests, providing a green, scenic alternative for corporate and social events.
