The first ZEL property is slated to open in Mallorca, Spain. The partners aim to launch more than 20 ZEL hotels within five years. The brand draws on Mediterranean influences, emphasizing outdoor living, seasonal cuisine and curated wellbeing programs. ZEL also plans to extend the guest experience beyond the stay through thoughtfully designed virtual elements that preserve memories and deepen engagement.

“Meliá’s more than 65 years of international experience in creating and managing hotels, combined with Rafael Nadal’s inspirational leadership, have come together to create this distinct brand,” said Gabriel Escarrer, CEO of Meliá Hotels International. “ZEL is an innovative and energetic hotel concept that will appeal to a new generation of travelers seeking wellbeing-focused, sustainable travel. We are delighted to partner with such a respected figure as Rafa.”
“As a Spaniard, a Mallorcan and a frequent traveler, launching this hotel brand is a project I have imagined for a long time,” said Rafael Nadal. “I’m excited to bring a hospitality concept that reflects the Mediterranean lifestyle and offers authentic experiences.”
ZEL’s positioning centers on relaxed luxury and experiential travel, with properties designed to foster outdoor activity, social connection and mindful living. Culinary offerings prioritize fresh, locally sourced ingredients and menus inspired by Mediterranean traditions. Wellbeing programming will include tailored fitness options, recovery and relaxation experiences, and immersive activities that highlight the surrounding environment.
The partnership between Nadal and Meliá aims to combine sporting values—discipline, excellence and attention to detail—with hospitality expertise to create hotels that feel personal and contemporary. Initial growth will focus on strategic locations in Spain, followed by a measured rollout to international markets where demand for sustainable, experience-led stays is growing.
With a targeted portfolio expansion and a clear brand identity rooted in Mediterranean culture, ZEL seeks to stand out in the lifestyle and resort segments by offering guests both tangible amenities and memorable, ongoing digital engagement after they leave. The debut in Mallorca will set the tone for subsequent openings and serve as a showcase for the brand’s design, food and wellbeing philosophies.
