Mauna Kea Beach Hotel on the Kohala Coast of Hawai‘i has completed a more-than-$180 million renovation in time for the resort’s 60th anniversary. The resort-wide overhaul brings refreshed guestrooms and suites, new pool experiences, an updated golf course, and the addition of the casual Hau Tree Cantina.

The renovation reimagined all 252 guestrooms and suites with a modern yet distinctly Hawaiian aesthetic, incorporating island textiles, plantation shutters, bedside lighting control panels and deep soaking tubs in many bathrooms. Public spaces were refreshed, dining offerings were refined to highlight local ingredients and culinary traditions, and new recreational amenities were added.
Among the new amenities are eight pickleball courts to meet growing guest interest in active play, an adults-only infinity pool for relaxation and panoramic ocean views, and enhanced dining venues that expand casual and resort dining options.
The Spa at Mauna Kea is scheduled to open this spring and will feature 11 indoor and outdoor treatment rooms, steam and sauna facilities, and a dedicated spa pool. Spa treatments are designed around Hawaiian healing traditions and locally inspired therapies.

In anticipation of a grand reopening gala on June 5, the resort is offering a limited-time package for guests. The four-night package includes daily breakfast for two and two tickets to the gala, providing an opportunity to experience the renovated property during the anniversary celebration.
