Marriott’s W Brand to Launch First Italy Hotel in 2026

Marriott International will introduce its bold and contemporary W Hotels brand to Rome in 2021, marking the first time the iconic W sign appears in Italy.

W Rome promises to bring a fresh, energetic take on modern luxury to the Eternal City with striking design, lively social spaces and a distinctive personality tailored to Rome’s fashionable spirit.

“Rome is one of Italy’s most stylish and fashionable cities, and therefore a perfect destination for the W brand,” said Jenni Benzaquen, vice president, luxury brands, Europe, Marriott International. “With its boundary-breaking design, buzzing spaces and unique style, W Rome will inject a new and decidedly social style of modern luxury to the Roman hospitality scene.”

The hotel will feature 159 rooms across two historic buildings on Via Liguria in the Via Veneto neighborhood, placing guests within easy reach of the Spanish Steps, the luxury boutiques of Via Condotti, chic cafés and some of Rome’s finest restaurants.

On the rooftop, W Rome will offer a signature destination bar with panoramic views of the city and a menu of handcrafted cocktails. Indoor social areas will include a distinctive W Living Room and two restaurant concepts designed to complement the hotel’s energetic atmosphere.

This opening expands W Hotels’ footprint in Europe, where the brand currently operates multiple properties and has several hotels in development. The brand has been growing across key European cities, and the arrival in Rome aligns with its broader strategy to introduce vibrant, design-led hotels to culturally rich destinations.

By combining contemporary design, dynamic communal spaces and a strong sense of place, W Rome aims to become a new social hub for both visitors and locals, offering an alternative take on luxury hospitality that resonates with Rome’s style-conscious visitors.
