Marriott International’s flagship brand, Marriott Hotels, will open its first property in Bolivia in 2016. Located in the heart of the Equipetrol neighborhood, the Marriott Santa Cruz de la Sierra will be set in one of the city’s most sought-after districts. The new hotel will offer 174 guestrooms and suites, a full-service restaurant operating three meals a day, a lobby bar, a swimming pool, a fitness center, a club lounge, a business center and generous meeting and event facilities.
Craig S. Smith, president of the Caribbean and Latin America for Marriott International, said the expansion is part of the company’s broader growth strategy in the region: “This is an exciting time for Marriott in Latin America. We recently announced our goal to double our portfolio in the Caribbean and Latin America by 2017 and are pleased to be expanding into Bolivia with our new partners. This project brings additional hotel capacity to the Bolivian market and places Marriott in a vibrant city like Santa Cruz de la Sierra, which is experiencing substantial growth in both business and leisure tourism.”
The hotel’s location in Equipetrol positions it close to corporate offices, shopping, dining and entertainment options, making it convenient for business travelers and tourists alike. With dedicated meeting spaces and a business center, the property aims to accommodate conferences and events, while leisure guests can enjoy the pool, fitness facilities and dining offerings.
Marriott’s arrival in Bolivia reflects continued demand for international-standard accommodations in emerging South American markets. By delivering a mix of guest rooms, public areas and event venues, the Marriott Santa Cruz de la Sierra is designed to serve local and international visitors and to support the city’s growing tourism and business sectors.
