Mandarin Oriental has announced plans for a new resort and branded residences in Muscat, marking the group’s first project in Oman.
Scheduled to open in 2021, The Mandarin Oriental, Muscat will feature 150 guestrooms and suites, five restaurants and bars, a full-service spa, and an outdoor swimming pool. The development will also include a range of event spaces and over 150 branded residences, designed to combine luxury hospitality with private residential living.
“Muscat is an entrancing destination with character, charm and an abundance of visitor attractions. We are delighted to have the opportunity to expand our brand presence on the Arabian Peninsula with this exciting project in partnership with Eagle Hills,” said James Riley, CEO of Mandarin Oriental. “We look forward to bringing Mandarin Oriental’s legendary service standards to Muscat.”
Low Ping, CEO of developer Eagle Hills, commented on the partnership: “We are proud to be entering the Omani market with our first project in the country. Working alongside Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, one of the most prestigious names in hospitality, gives us confidence that together we will set new benchmarks for tourism and residential living in Muscat.”
The property benefits from a convenient location roughly 20 minutes from Muscat International Airport and sits close to prominent cultural and leisure attractions, including the Royal Opera House, the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, and the historic Muttrah district. Its proximity to luxury retail and entertainment options positions the development to appeal to both international visitors and local residents seeking premium hospitality and lifestyle amenities.
With a focus on refined design, high-quality dining, and bespoke service, the Mandarin Oriental development aims to attract discerning travelers and homeowners. The mix of hotel facilities and branded residences will offer flexible ownership and lifestyle choices, while dedicated event spaces will provide options for meetings, weddings, and cultural gatherings.
By bringing Mandarin Oriental’s service ethos to Muscat in collaboration with Eagle Hills, the project seeks to enhance the city’s luxury hospitality scene and contribute to the region’s tourism and residential offerings.
