German carrier Lufthansa is now the fourth international airline to participate in the Transportation Security Administration’s TSA PreCheck program, and the first carrier from Europe to join the expedited security initiative.
Beginning last month, passengers holding Lufthansa tickets for travel within the United States can use the dedicated TSA PreCheck lanes at participating airports. Eligible customers benefit from a faster screening process, allowing them to keep shoes, belts and light outerwear on and to leave laptops and approved liquids in their carry-on bags.
“We are pleased to advance this important U.S. government trusted-traveler initiative, the TSA PreCheck program,” said Juergen Siebenrock, Vice President for the Americas at Lufthansa. “This is one of several new initiatives that underscores our ongoing commitment to enhance the customer experience throughout the journey with Lufthansa.”
Non-U.S. citizens may also join TSA PreCheck if they are approved through U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Global Entry program. Lufthansa joins Aeromexico, Etihad and WestJet among the international carriers participating in TSA PreCheck.
