ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: Arriving at Live Aqua Beach Resort Cancún feels like stepping into a place where staff have been eagerly awaiting your arrival. After a brief hiccup at the airport when our scheduled transportation could not be found, the moment we entered the resort lobby the tension melted away thanks to the fresh peppermint scent and warm welcome. Check-in took place in the Aqua Club, an exclusive lounge reserved for Aqua Club members and select suite guests. Fernando, the sales director, and Carlos, our assigned butler, greeted us there. Attendants promptly offered refreshments, confirmed our reservation details and dietary preferences, and issued bracelets that doubled as room keys for the duration of our stay.

GUEST QUARTERS: Our Premium Aqua Club Oceanfront room featured a king-size bed, a comfortable couch, a private balcony and a bathroom with a waterfall-style shower. The view stretched across several shades of blue where the pools and ocean merge, with glimpses of the resort’s dining and leisure areas below. The room had been thoughtfully decorated for my birthday, a personal touch that extended beyond our stay—other guests mentioned receiving tailored touches on their floors as well. Beside the bed, panels of buttons controlled lighting, motorized shades and the room’s ambiance. Guests can also select from signature aromatherapy scents; we chose a blend of vanilla and sandalwood labeled “Romance.”

Pool attendants arranged a private pool-side day bed for us, complete with a cushion marked by the Global Traveler logo, while servers and team members across the resort ensured we felt looked after at every turn. The Aqua Club proved central to our experience—an inviting spot for light bites, coffee and cocktails throughout the day. The resort offers a fully equipped gym with group classes and a spa where we enjoyed a 60-minute couple’s massage. Daily activity schedules include aqua sports, volleyball and a variety of games and pursuits suitable for different interests and energy levels.
