IHG has opened its 200th InterContinental hotel in Shanghai. The InterContinental Shanghai Wonderland is a luxury property ingeniously integrated into the side of a former quarry, gaining recognition as an architectural marvel and a leading example of innovative luxury hospitality.
The hotel is largely subterranean, featuring two aboveground levels and 16 below, including two submerged floors. It offers 336 guestrooms, with the aboveground rooms providing dramatic views of waterfalls and the surrounding cliffs. A distinctive underwater loft spans two levels: a water-level landing deck with a terrace and bedroom, and an underwater living room enclosed by an aquarium. Guests staying on the lowest floors benefit from 24/7 butler service.
