The InterContinental brand returned to Sri Lanka’s capital in 2019 with the opening of InterContinental Colombo. The 42-floor hotel houses 307 guestrooms, including 47 suites, many offering sweeping views of the Indian Ocean. Located in Colombo 3, an established commercial district, the property is the tallest hotel tower in the neighborhood and sits along a major arterial road for easy access.
Designed with business travelers in mind, the hotel is conveniently positioned near international and domestic airports, rail connections and key city routes. Meeting and event facilities total 12,000 square feet and can accommodate gatherings of up to 400 guests, making the property well-suited for conferences, corporate functions and social events.
Public amenities include a business center, a well-equipped fitness center, an outdoor swimming pool and a full-service spa. Guests can choose from six dining venues, including three specialty restaurants that showcase diverse culinary styles and offer a variety of dining experiences on-site.
“We are excited to introduce our global luxury brand InterContinental Hotels and Resorts to the beautiful island country, Sri Lanka, in partnership with the esteemed Pearl Grand Tower Hotel (Private) Limited,” said Sudeep Jain, vice president of development for Southwest Asia at IHG. “This opening aligns with our strategy to grow IHG’s footprint across South West Asia and to expand the InterContinental brand in key cities and resort destinations throughout the region. With a prime location, best-in-class amenities and the high level of service the brand is known for, we are confident in delivering exceptional luxury experiences to our guests.”
