Library Hotel Collection founder Henry Kallan will bring his signature approach to creating and operating beautiful, independent hotels—focused on attentive service and guest satisfaction—to Budapest with the opening of Aria Hotel Budapest.
Scheduled to open in March 2015 in the historic city center on the Pest side of the Danube, the hotel occupies a seven-story building originally developed in the 1870s. The Neoclassical façade has been carefully reconstructed in limestone to reflect the original 19th-century architecture and preserve the building’s historic character.
The property includes 49 guestrooms and four parlors, each inspired by a musical theme: jazz, contemporary, opera or classical. The décor and in-room audio reflect those themes, and guests can access the hotel’s curated music library via iPads and flat-screen televisions set into marble mantelpieces designed like fireplaces. Suite options include one- and two-bedroom layouts, plus a notable studio suite honoring Hungarian composer and virtuoso Franz Liszt.
“I wanted to design for Budapest a hotel that felt like a private home with a distinctive personality and cultural experience along with the personal care for which we’re known,” Kallan said.
The hotel features Budapest’s only year-round rooftop garden terrace, the High Note SkyBar, offering panoramic views across the city. Dining is anchored by Stradivari, a street-level bistro-style restaurant, while Satchmo’s Bar and Lounge provides a relaxed space for drinks and conversation.
Wellness facilities at Harmony Spa include three treatment rooms, an indoor pool, private pool cabanas, an advanced fitness center, a Swedish sauna, a Turkish steam room and a Jacuzzi, creating a comprehensive spa and fitness experience for guests.
Complimentary amenities include high-speed WiFi, a daily breakfast buffet, tea and coffee service and afternoon wine-and-cheese receptions. Rates for stays beginning March 15, 2015, start at approximately $410 per night.
