Hoxton and Mondrian Hotels to Open Luxury Properties in Bucharest

One United Properties, a leading developer of residential, mixed-use and office real estate in Romania, has signed an agreement with Ennismore, a rapidly expanding lifestyle hospitality company, to open The Hoxton Bucharest, the well-regarded upscale hotel brand, in Romania’s evolving capital, Bucharest.

The Hoxton Bucharest will be situated on Academiei Street, adjacent to the Faculty of Architecture. The hotel will rise from the site of three historic buildings currently undergoing restoration, part of a project that will help revitalize one of the city’s emerging commercial districts.

Restoration work currently covers about 14,000 square feet, with a total buildable area of approximately 76,000 square feet.

“We are proud to be partnering with Ennismore to bring The Hoxton to Bucharest,” said Victor Căpitanu, co-CEO of One United Properties. “This underscores our commitment to introducing lifestyle experiences to Romania while enhancing the architectural and cultural fabric of the city. The presence of a brand as dynamic and respected as The Hoxton aligns with our long-term vision of transforming Bucharest into a vibrant European capital—open, inclusive and increasingly attractive for both tourists and investors. This development also reaffirms our role in restoring historic landmarks and giving them new life as part of Bucharest’s growing districts that welcome both international leisure visitors and business travelers.”

The culture-driven Hoxton hotel will be designed to host a wide range of guests, offering a mix of suites and standard rooms, curated food and beverage venues, and flexible meeting and event spaces. The Hoxton’s signature open-house concept creates a welcoming, community-oriented atmosphere that connects travelers and locals alike.

“The arrival of The Hoxton in Bucharest represents more than just a hotel opening; it is a clear statement of our dedication to redefining hospitality in Romania,” said Riad Abi Haidar, CEO of Hospitality at One United Properties. “Together with Ennismore, we are introducing one of the world’s most iconic lifestyle brands to Eastern Europe, while revitalizing historic buildings in the heart of the city. This project reflects our ambition to create vibrant destinations where international design and local culture converge.”

This collaboration marks the second major international hospitality brand that One United Properties and Ennismore are bringing to Romania, following the announcement of Mondrian Bucharest, an art-driven property. Located on Georges Clemenceau Street, near the Romanian Athenaeum, Mondrian Bucharest will combine local inspiration with contemporary design and is scheduled to open in 2026. The Hoxton Bucharest is anticipated to open in 2028 or 2029.

The introduction of The Hoxton and Mondrian in Bucharest does more than expand the city’s hotel inventory; it reflects growing global demand for destinations that blend architectural authenticity with contemporary creative energy, and supports Bucharest’s emergence as a compelling destination for visitors and investors alike.
