Belize City is often viewed as a business hub or a gateway to the country’s lush rural attractions, but Fort George Hotel & Spa aims to reposition the capital as a true destination. Situated in the Fort George neighborhood, the property opened as Belize City’s first luxury hotel, showcasing refined design, elevated dining, spacious guestrooms and a focused wellness program. The hotel also offers a branded fitness center, a plunge pool and the K’IN Spa.

The hotel sits about 30 minutes from Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport (BZE), making it convenient for exploring Belize City’s waterfront, artisan markets and downtown attractions. It also provides easy access to activities beyond the city, from guided walks to nearby Mayan sites such as Altun Ha to diving trips on the Belize Barrier Reef, the largest barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere.
Although Fort George Hotel & Spa presents modern décor and contemporary amenities, the building’s origins date to 1953. The recent reopening is the first phase of a larger redevelopment of the historic property and its neighborhood, with further enhancements planned for later in 2024. Once complete, the hotel will add 110 rooms to its inventory. Currently open are 34 Courtyard Deluxe rooms and suites that use a contemporary design palette with natural woods and light tones. Rooms are furnished for comfort and convenience, while the premier penthouse suites include full kitchens and living areas with views over the Caribbean Sea.

The Treehouse, the hotel’s full-service restaurant, bar and lounge, blends international influences with Belizean flavors using fresh, organic ingredients. The menu highlights creative tapas and health-focused dishes, including fresh-caught seafood and all-natural juices and smoothies named for local landmarks such as Blue Hole and Caye Caulker. Private dining options include a glass-enclosed room for 12, a main dining area seating 20 and an indoor lounge with towering trees that evoke a whimsical treehouse atmosphere for up to 30 guests. The Treehouse serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
