The 70th Annual Del Mar National Horse Show runs April 16–May 12 in Del Mar, California, drawing more than 3,000 top horses and riders to the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Competitors take part in a range of disciplines, including Western riding, dressage and hunter-jumper events. Saturday evenings during the show feature special presentations such as Night of the Horse, Evening of Musical Freestyle and the Surfside Grand Prix, offering spectators memorable nighttime performances and competitive excitement.
Racing season at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club begins July 16 with an opening day celebration, and the meets continue through Sept. 7. The club’s first race was launched in 1938 by actor and entertainer Bing Crosby, the same day the famed thoroughbred Seabiscuit won a race by a nose. Throughout the season, select Fridays designated as 4 O’Clock Fridays conclude the day’s racing with a complimentary headline concert following the final race, creating a festive atmosphere for racegoers and music fans alike.
