Horror Festival and Axe Throwing Events in Whistler

Looking for a Halloween destination? Visit Whistler, British Columbia, where the Heavy Hitting Horrorfest takes place each year on Oct. 30. As Western Canada’s largest and longest-running independent horror film festival, it screens a wide range of horror short and feature films — from campy, laugh-out-loud entries to truly chilling cinematic work doused in fake blood. Filmmakers vie for the festival’s Silver Skull Trophy while costumed attendees enjoy screenings, live music and a lively red-carpet pre-party that sets the spooky tone for the night.

If you prefer an activity with a bit of edge, consider forged axe throwing while you’re in Whistler. Increasingly popular—and treated as a sport by many—Forged Axe Throwing operates from an indoor venue and is well suited to team-building, group nights out or family-friendly competition. Skilled instructors guide participants through safety procedures and proper throwing technique, helping newcomers get comfortable and more experienced throwers refine their skills. Sessions vary from drop-in hour-long bookings to private lessons tailored to your group.

For events beyond the venue, Forged Axe Throwing offers a Mobile Axe Throwing Trailer that brings the experience to private parties or corporate functions; events are staffed by two trained attendants who provide safety briefings and hands-on coaching. If you want to make axe throwing a regular hobby, the local Axe Throwing League hosts weekly Monday-night sessions, nightly tournaments and an end-of-season Throw-Down, giving players plenty of opportunities to compete and improve.
