When hunting for the lowest airfares, travelers have many online tools to compare prices. One mobile app now lets users access special discounted fares that aren’t available on most other sites.
Hopper — a mobile-only app that searches for low-cost plane tickets and predicts potential price drops — recently introduced a Secret Fares feature. Through partnerships with several carriers, including Air Canada, Air China, Copa, LATAM, Turkish Airlines and WestJet, Hopper is highlighting up to 60,000 additional routes at fares that can be as much as 35 percent lower than prices listed elsewhere. Participating airlines benefit by selling unsold seats at reduced rates, helping convert potential losses into revenue.
To view these secret fares, travelers download the app, enter their travel details and monitor price changes. By choosing to “watch” a trip, users receive tailored notifications on their phones when significant price drops occur for their selected route. This lets travelers book at better moments without constant manual checking.
