Hilton Plans to More Than Double Its Puerto Rico Hotel Portfolio

Hilton has announced an ambitious plan to more than double its presence in Puerto Rico, which already represents Hilton’s largest hotel collection in the Caribbean. The company currently operates seven properties on the island, totaling more than 2,350 rooms across four leading Hilton brands. Hilton’s development pipeline in Puerto Rico is also the largest in the Caribbean by number of hotels under development.

“Puerto Rico plays a critical role in Hilton’s history, as it kick-started the company’s global growth when it welcomed Hilton’s first hotel outside the Continental United States in 1949 with the opening of the iconic Caribe Hilton,” said Pablo Maturana, vice president, development, Caribbean and Latin America, Hilton. “Nearly 75 years later, our deep-seated commitment to Puerto Rico is as strong as ever, as we plan to introduce Hilton’s brands in new destinations across the island of enchantment.”

As a priority market in the Caribbean, Hilton’s pipeline in Puerto Rico includes nearly 10 hotels and introduces five brands to the island for the first time: Curio Collection by Hilton, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, Tru by Hilton and Homewood Suites by Hilton. With these projects, Hilton expects its Puerto Rico portfolio to grow to 16 hotels and resorts encompassing almost 4,400 rooms across eight brands by the end of 2025.

Tapestry Collection by Hilton is slated to debut later this year with the 186-room Condado Palm Inn San Juan, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, bringing the soft-brand experience to the Condado neighborhood.

Curio Collection by Hilton will make its Puerto Rico debut in 2025 with the 332-room San Juan Condado Plaza, Curio Collection by Hilton. That hotel will open following a full renovation as part of a dual-branded conversion that will refresh The Condado Plaza Hilton towers into a Curio Collection property alongside a Hilton Garden Inn.

The first Hilton Garden Inn on the island is scheduled to open later this year as part of the Condado conversion: the 240-room Hilton Garden Inn San Juan Condado. A second Hilton Garden Inn, the 153-room Hilton Garden Inn Dorado, is expected to join Hilton’s Puerto Rico portfolio in 2025.

Tru by Hilton plans to launch its first Puerto Rico location in 2025 with the 77-room Tru by Hilton San Juan Condado. The company also expects to bring two Hampton by Hilton hotels to the island in 2025: the 138-room Hampton by Hilton San Juan City Center and the 120-room Hampton by Hilton Ponce.

Hilton is also expanding in the all-suites and extended-stay segment. Homewood Suites by Hilton plans to open its first Puerto Rico location with the anticipated 2025 debut of the 118-room Homewood Suites by Hilton San Juan City Center.

Today’s Hilton portfolio in Puerto Rico includes seven hotels and resorts: Caribe Hilton, Hilton Ponce Golf & Casino Resort, The Condado Plaza Hilton, DoubleTree by Hilton San Juan, Embassy Suites by Hilton Dorado del Mar Beach Resort, Embassy Suites by Hilton San Juan Hotel & Casino and Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton San Juan.
