In October 2022 the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao — a major cultural, social and economic engine for the city and its surrounding region — celebrates its 25th anniversary. For this milestone year the museum introduced the slogan “Art Inspires Future” and unveiled a special anniversary logo: the trademark G’s of the Guggenheim brand move like gears to form the number 25.

To mark the anniversary the Guggenheim Bilbao has put together a varied program of exhibitions designed to appeal to a wide audience. The celebratory schedule began in February 2022 with From Fauvism to Surrealism: Masterpieces from the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris, accompanied by the retrospective Jean Dubuffet: Ardent Celebration, which runs through August 21. Additional major presentations are planned for spring and summer, offering visitors a diverse range of works and viewpoints through May 22.

One highlight this season is Motion, Autos, Art, Architecture, which opens April 8 and runs through September 18. In autumn the museum will stage a special presentation of works from the Museum Collection to celebrate its birthday. The Museum Collection reflects twenty-five years of acquisitions made since the Guggenheim Bilbao first opened—works that helped the museum become an international landmark, a point of pride for Bilbao and the Basque region, and a continuing source of inspiration for residents and visitors alike.
