Four Seasons Hotel Austin has introduced an exclusive tequila created in collaboration with Herradura. The Four Seasons Herradura tequila is available throughout the hotel this month at its dining and beverage outlets. This double-barrel–aged spirit is made from 100% agave and was first rested in a toasted oak barrel for 11 months, then transferred to a new oak barrel for a final month.
“We selected that specific barrel because the oak carried prominent vanilla notes and softer, rounded tannins—qualities that reminded us of an añejo,” said Bre Hart, bartender at Four Seasons Hotel Austin. “We felt it would work beautifully as a sipping tequila.”
In the hotel’s Latin-inspired restaurant Live Oak, the tequila stars in the La Arboleda cocktail, a riff on an old fashioned that pairs the spirit with orange bitters and a mezcal rinse. Guests can also request the components deconstructed to taste the tequila on its own before assembling the drink.
“Aromatics were a key factor when we chose our barrel, so fragrance is the focus of this cocktail,” said Matt Foster, bartender. “When you bring the glass to your nose you’ll catch oak, vanilla and agave, layered with citrus notes that reflect the orchards on Herradura’s grounds.”
At Ciclo, the Four Seasons Herradura appears in the 1870 cocktail, which references mole-inspired flavors by combining fruit, chili pepper and chocolate nuances to complement the tequila’s profile.
The tequila is also offered via the hotel’s on-demand margarita cart, giving guests another way to enjoy the limited-release spirit throughout their stay.
